MIDO 2027 Unveils "Eyewearland Milano" as Show Cements Its Ecosystem Ambitions

MIDO 2027 Unveils "Eyewearland Milano" as Show Cements Its Ecosystem AmbitionsMIDO has taken the next step in reshaping its brand, revealing "Eyewearland Milano" as the new payoff that will define the eyewear trade fair heading into its 2027 edition and beyond.

The announcement builds on the "Welcome to Eyewearland" campaign the Milan-based show launched earlier this year, and organisers say it's more than a marketing refresh. It's the clearest signal yet that MIDO wants to be seen not just as a trade show, but as a full-blown ecosystem for the global eyewear industry, organisers say.

The idea behind Eyewearland Milano is to capture everything that happens under MIDO's roof in one go: business, innovation, creativity, research, manufacturing, distribution and education, all in the same place. Organisers point out that MIDO remains the only event on the calendar that brings the entire supply chain together: frame and lens makers rubbing shoulders with machinery and raw materials suppliers, multinational giants alongside scrappy start-ups, and long-established designers next to the industry's emerging names, all under one roof.

For practices and suppliers already pencilling in the 2027 calendar, the show returns to Fiera Milano Rho from February 6 to 8. It's a fixture that pulled in 1,200 exhibitors and visitors from more than 160 countries last time around, spread across eight exhibition areas in seven halls, each carved out for a different slice of the supply chain. Organisers say the floor plan gets reworked every year to keep the layout functional and give returning visitors something new to look at.

There's an interesting scheduling quirk for the 2027 dates too: the opening day, February 6, coincides with the start of Chinese New Year. MIDO is using the overlap to sweeten the deal for its Chinese contingent, rolling out dedicated travel packages for exhibitors and buyers from Wenzhou, Shenzhen and Shanghai, on top of the deals it already runs each year for visitors from the US, Canada and Latin America. Organisers say more details on both fronts will land in the coming months.

For anyone eyeing a trip to Milan, online registration for visitors and journalists opens via the official MIDO website on September 25.

The rebrand also comes with a reminder of MIDO's broader standing in the Italian trade fair world. The show is a founding member of IT-EX, the body representing Italy's internationally significant trade fair organisers and backing the push to promote Italian companies, and "Made in Italy" more broadly, abroad. Across its membership, IT-EX's portfolio of fairs draws roughly 20,000 exhibitors (about 9,000 from overseas) and 2.5 million visitors annually, including a million industry professionals and enthusiasts on trade-only days, 600,000 of them international.

More news on the 2027 edition, including further exhibitor and visitor initiatives, is expected to be released by MIDO over the coming months.
